What a crazy week this has been!
Luck made me decide to take a look at my schedule one random night last week, and luck made me realize that I had overlooked a serious scheduling error- one that would either send me home or postpone my graduation another semester, meaning I wouldn’t graduate until May 2016. This past week has basically been me wildly fluctuating between being 100% certain I was staying and 100% certain I was going home. Oh, the pros and cons lists I made, you wouldn’t believe. It came down to me really deciding between money and happiness. I knew I wouldn’t have any money problems if I cut my trip short, but every time I thought about going home for Christmas and staying I immediately got this overwhelming feeling of regret, even though I hadn’t actually made any concrete plans.
My plan had always been to stay for the full year, but this past week has made me realize how much I truly, honestly need to stay. I’m just not ready to leave yet. Thess has become my home. I’m so happy here it’s unreal. I can’t imagine going back to drive-through coffee, one hour dinners and having to DRIVE everywhere. Not yet, anyway.
Aside from that, “interesting” is the word I would use to describe last weekend. Thursday was Halloween, and although it’s not a holiday in Greece, two people who work at my school rented out a club so we could celebrate anyway. It was RIDICULOUS. I went as my super awesome RA Faidon. I’m not sure what Caitlin was trying to be, but we were kind of a thing.
Saturday we thought it would be a GREAT idea to go to a heavy metal tribute band concert, and that was, again, ridiculous. You know, when in Thess. (That’s the saying, isn’t it?)
And last, but certainly not least, I got a new tattoo today. I’ve been planning to get one for a while now. A few of the other people in my group wanted to as well, but I’m impatient so I decided to go ahead and get it done. It says “ελευθερία,” which is the Greek word for freedom. Sometimes it takes me a while to warm up to my tattoos, but I love this one already.
I think that pretty much covers it! Until next time!
